Skills change lives

Skills Ambassadors

Former competitors who go back into schools and explain what they do.

Thirty-one ambassadors visited 180 schools last year and spoke to about 24,000 students.

The format

The ambassador brings their tools, shows what they make, says what they earn, and takes questions for twenty minutes. No slides. A teacher introduces them and then stays out of it.

Becoming one

Open to anyone who has competed at a divisional heat or above. You get two days of training, a travel allowance, and a schedule that fits around your job.

Requesting a visit

Any school can ask. Priority goes to schools outside divisional headquarters and to girls’ schools.
