Skills change lives

Team Bangladesh

The squad that trains after the medals are handed out.

A national medal gets you into the squad. It does not get you a plane ticket.

How selection works

Medallists join a training squad of two to four competitors per skill. The squad trains in camps through the year, usually at a partner institute or at an employer’s site. Selection trials after the following national competition decide who goes.

What the training is

Mostly repetition under measurement, with an expert who has judged internationally. Camps run eight to twelve days. Competitors who are working are released by their employer — that release is itself a form of sponsorship, and we count it as one.

What it costs us

Roughly 7.5 lakh taka per competitor per cycle, covering consumables, expert time, travel and the international entry. Sponsorship covers most of it; a partner can fund a single skill.
